Joyce Anderson fonds

Fonds pertains to the Cairnduff family and McWilliams family of Nogie’s Creek, Ontario. Items include two photo albums, two Bibles, and a handwritten music book for violin. Also included are two envelopes, one containing postcards pertaining to Buckhorn and the surrounding area with postmarks dating from 1907 to 1949, collected by Clayton Grant, the other containing a newspaper clipping, photograph, and colour scripture book. Also included are two books: My Bookhouse Through Fairy Halls, and The Standard Horse and Stock Book.

Likely locale of some of the paintings was supplied by Professor Gordon Roper; these locations include Scotland (2), Gull Lake, Stoney Lake, Lake Superior. Two have no indication of location. Also included is a two section map showing Herriots Mill near Kitchiwannoe Lake, and a map (mockup) of Peterborough, Ontario entitled "Location of Built Heritage (demolished and standing) in relation to the MNR building site", 1995.

Carver, and local historic sites. This fonds is a tremendous resource for information related to Peterborough and area in general.

In December 2001, Trent University Archives launched an online exhibit which depicts Helen Fowld's experiences in World War I. This fonds consists of records from the law firm and practice of Hall, Gillespie, from its beginnings with Robert Dennistoun, to its termination with John Gillespie. This fonds consists of land search books, case files, estate records from probates of wills and succession of duty papers to surety bonds, and lists of assets and debts. It also consists of correspondence, the firm's written history, maps, deeds and associated papers, mortgages, debentures, bills of sale and other legal records. The records in this fonds deal primarily with people and places in the City and County of Peterborough as well as its surrounding area.

Fonds consists of family and business records pertaining to Howard Borden Hamilton and his company, "Howard Hamilton", later known as "Hamilton Holiday Homes", located in McCracken's Landing, Ontario.

Included in Box 1 are company financial records, wage records, time logs, inventory records, building permits lists, etc. (1937-1981).

Included in Box 2 are business receipts (1979-1981); George Wade bills, etc. (1961-1962); deeds and property documents (1937-1974); Gwendolen Hanley documents relating to various shares, and to the Parkside Motel, Otonabee Township, Ontario, and Forest Plaza Hotel, Mount Forest, Ontario (1963-1972); and Herczeg, Perlus, and Okany building plans (1971).

Also included are miscellaneous family records, and a folder of local business receipts issued to William Crowe of Stoney Lake, Ontario, and Jordon Crowe (1883-1924), a "Pathmasters" list, and "Heart Receipt", a recipe for heart ailments.

Located in the Large Materials Cabinet are building plans for cottages, homes, and decks at properties belonging to [Keith McKerracher] (1965), Order of the Eastern Star (1972), Clementi Lodge House, Lakefield (1973), D. Bell (1976), Domal-Marine Div. (1980), Marvin McDermot (1982), and J. Webster (1982).

Lewis, and research material pertaining to Irish immigrant Frances Stewart and to the nineteenth-century social history of Ontario. Items include correspondence, manuscripts and notes for speeches and articles, notes on various topics, research articles, typescripts and copies of historical letters, copy photographs, and slides. Also included are a number of original historical letters pertaining to the Stewart family and one original photograph of Harriet Beaufort. Unless otherwise noted, the research materials are primarily comprised of reproductions in the form of photocopies. Further Stewart family materials were received in December 2012 and added to Box 6.

The fonds consists of three original letters. Two are written to Harriet Beaufort, the third and last one to Maria Noble. Letter #1 (November 9, 1823-December 6, 1823), tells of mail received, the death of Frances' daughter Bessie, description of produce, and of difficulties in communication with Cobourg. Letter #2 (January 27, 1824-February 5, 1824), describes Frances' troubles with servants, of Tom's trip to Cobourg over the Rice Lake/Peterborough Road, and his getting lost on the lake, and her new baby girl. Letter #3, written from Goodwood, (April 11, 1854), tells of Tom's death, and her reflections on it.
