John Tylor Lyon family fonds

This fonds consists of photocopies of records of John Lyon Tylor's family members. It includes the correspondence of William Plummer, 1871-1891 regarding Northern Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie development; manuscript speeches of Robert Adam Lyon, MPP Algoma, 1870-1885; a note of William D. Lyon, MPP Halton, 1919; letters from Robert W. Service and Bill Sime to Harold Tylor relating to memories of the Yukon Territory, literary and personal matters; and newspaper clippings including an obituary of Robert Service.

This addition to the fonds consists of one large photograph album containing newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence and biographical records regarding the Corrigan House and family of Carrying Place, Ontario. Album contains drawings by B. Napier Simpson of the Corrigan House at The Carrying Place, Prince Edward County. There are also sheets of biographical information on the Asa Weller family and the Robertson, French and Corrigan families and B. Napier Simpson.

This collection consists of items taken out from the collection of books from the Margaret Laurence collection at Catharine Parr Traill College. Publications by Laurence which are referred to include "The Prophets Camel Bell", "Long Drums and Cannons", "The Christmas Birthday Story", "The Diviners", "Six Darn Cows" and "Manawaka works". Other records have information which refers to, or are from, Helen Margaret Buss, Philip Shirley, Scott Hutcheson, Angus Mowat, Al Purdy, William Ready, and the book "Poet Cop" by Hans Jewinski.
