            This collection consists of a book of typed recipes with "J.R. Ferguson" hand-written on the front cover. Its cover is hand-made with a coloured drawing of a woman carrying a platter with the name . Also included in the fonds is a letter on Hall & Furgason letterhead (Produce Commission Merchants, New York) from a son to his mother dated September 20, 1895. (Note different spelling of the name Ferguson/Furgason).

            This item is a photocopy of an 1870's recipe book entitled Five Hundred Dollars Worth of Knowledge for One Dollar: Great Exposure of Liquors and Recipe Book by Charles H. Hagar. The book was published in Binghampton, New York and contains recipes for alcoholic drinks and sundry other recipes for things such as hair tonic, sore throats, pain killers and others.

            This fonds consists a photocopy of a manuscript written by de la Fosse describing his brief experience in the Canadian West. There is a short introduction by Sylvia Boorman as well as concluding remarks. Two pages are missing and are mentioned by Sylvia Boorman in her introductory letter which accompanies the manuscript. The introductory letter is dated July 5, 1990.

            Fonds consists of two hand-sewn booklets, each with five original architectural drawings of the "Hamilton District of Newcastle" gaol and court house. Each sheet has a title depicting the section of the building drawn, i.e., "Ground plan of a court house and gaol to be built at Hamilton district of Newcastle as proposed by Archibald Fraser." All sheets are signed by Archibald Fraser and are undated. Some of the sheets are coloured.

            The fonds consists of photocopies of letters to George Campbell, mostly from Alex. and James Campbell from Manitoba, outlining working and living conditions in the aftermath of the Red River Rebellion. The letters contain comments on the ethnic nature of the population, farming prospects, and the election riot of November 1871. The letters were written between October 30, 1870 and October 5, 1874.
