This fonds consists of three issues of the University of Manitoba publication VOX which contain stories, poetry, editorials, reports and a graduate section which has photographs of the graduates for the year of publication. In all issues there are short stories and poetry written by Margaret Laurence, under her maiden name of Jean Margaret (Peggy) Wemyss. There is also a photograph of her in one of the issues.

This fonds consists of a "School Exercise Book" which contains a handwritten biographical sketch of Miss Burgess' "First School", undoubtedly written to be read to the members of the Shakespeare Club at one of their monthly meetings. The 31 loose sheets consist of poems and verse written by Burgess over the years as inspiration or occasion presented.

This addition to the Carley fonds contains draft and final manuscripts of Carley plays which he has written or edited: Losing Paradise, A View From the Roof, Airplay (edited collection), Scoops, Susanna, Writing With Our Feet and Sister Jude. Also contains, publicity materials, copies of the Kawartha Sun (which Carley edited: these are shelved separately on the newspaper shelves), correspondence, materials regarding Amnesty International of which Carley was an active member.

This fonds consists of correspondence, an early version of the manuscript of Our Forest Home, and a copyright document for Our Forest Home. Also included are drawings, a painting, and house plans.

Fonds consists of correspondence, draft manuscripts, posters, cds, publicity materials, and contracts related to plays of David Langley Carley. Plays and/or episodes in this addition include Backbencher, The Sweaters, Taking Liberties, 5 Hot Plays, Opera on the Rocks, Afghanada, The Taming of the Dude, American Detour, The Brief, Conservatives in Love, Trevi Fountain, Drive Home Dramas, Clockwork Twin, Last Liberal, The Final Hour, and others.

Also included are photographs and original artworks as well as typescripts of articles, poetry, and short stories.

The fonds consists of the literary and personal correspondence; literary and poetic manuscripts; and typescripts of reviews of anthologies, lectures and essays by and about Arthur J.M. Smith. Also included in the fonds are photographs and prints.

This addition to the fonds consists of articles and booklets written by Frank Morris; manuscripts and published articles by Douglas Sadler; correspondence, minutes of meetings relating to Sadler's involvment in environmental and naturalist issues and activities; correspondence relating to Teacher's College and several issues of the Young Naturalist.

Fonds consists of correspondence, research materials and drafts of Charles Foran's books and articles. Correspondents include other novelists, journalists, poets and various publishers. Included in the fonds is professional correspondence, personal correspondence, research regarding Foran's M.A. thesis and publishing records.

This addition to the fonds consists of records from the Canadian Forum magazine primarily from the years of 1979 to 1986, although some of the material dates back to 1973. Included are manuscripts from most issues between 1979 and 1986, as well as correspondence with the editors.

This accession consists of four books. The first book, The Holy Bible, is a pulpit bible printed by John Baskerville [c.1750], and includes the dedication to King James 1 and the Apocrypha. Handwritten family records, from Thomas A. Stewart's father down through several generations, appear on the inside of the front cover and at the beginning of the New Testament. Included with the bible is a description and history of the book, as provided by Reverend John Shearman. The second book is a "Commonplace" book. The notebook inscribed "Frances Browne, 1811", reflects Frances Stewart's taste in verse and sayings and is handwritten except for a few clippings inter-leaved. A photocopy of the "Commonplace" book is also included.

Two additional books were added in 2004. The first of these is Frances Browne's music book, 1811, and consists of sheet music bound together inside a leather cover; the inscription on the cover reads "Miss F. Browne, 1811." The second of these is Church of England, Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments..., [170-]; the title page is missing.

This fonds consists of correspondence, accounts, notes, clippings and articles relating to the conference held at Trent University on January 24 and 25, 1975. There are also 3 copies of Journal of Canadian Studies edition with papers from the conference.

Fonds consists of photographs, memorabilia, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings related to Aureen Richardson and her family, and to her genealogical research and historical research on events and people in the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham and Hastings County.

This addition to the fonds consists of the Association for Canadian Studies correspondence, personnel files, constitution, membership files, materials related to Association for Canadian Studies awards, publications, workshops and conferences, publicity, fundraising, meeting minutes, Quebec regional materials and records on Canadian Studies as a discipline in the educational system.

This fonds consists of documents pertaining to Arthur James Marshall Smith, i.e. birth and baptismal documents, a marriage certificate and contract, passports, U.S.A. naturalization documents, his death certificate, etc. Also included is his Governor General Annual Literary Award medal, received in 1944, and two personal photographs dated 1925 and c1932. Correspondence regarding the purchase of the A.J.M. Smith collection by Trent University, and lists of books, hand copied in pencil, are included. Other correspondence addressed to A.J.M. Smith and to Peter Smith from Buffy Glassco, Ralph Gustafson, Leon Edel, and others is included.

The fonds consists of original and copies of letters from Elizabeth C. Yeats, William Butler Yeats, J.B. Yeats, George Russell and others to Professor A.T. De Lury relating to Irish literature, poetry, and Irish politics. It includes some typescript copies and photocopies of all letters. The topics covered by the correspondence include Caula Press, Abbey Theatre, Irish theatre as well as other topics.

The fonds consists of two black and white photos of the poet Robert Frost.

The fonds consists of manuscripts of poetry; printed poems of Alice Roger Collins; and two letters from Alice Roger Collins (October 30, 1946; February 21, 1948) discussing personal matters, post World War II conditions, and her teaching of music at Walkerton, Ontario. The poetry is presumably by A.R. Collins, some of which is dedicated to 'Fergie' - in ink and pencil, and of a religious nature.

Collection consists of a guide to nearly all of the Frances Stewart letters located at Trent University Archives and elsewhere. The guide is a biographical reference tool which indexes all the names which appear in the letters. The indexing locates each name in the approximately 450 letters and gives the corresponding page number in the transcripts (94-006); it provides the source of biographic information, and explains the relationship of each person to Thomas Alexander Stewart and Frances Browne Stewart. The guide is arranged alphabetically by last name and includes hundreds of names, i.e., Sydney Bellingham, Rev. George Brabazon, Rev. Francis Browne, John Burnham, Rev. Mark Burnham, Zaccheus Burnham, Frances Anne Edgeworth, Agnes Fitzgibbon (nee Moodie), Catherine Elizabeth Kirkpatrick (nee Browne), Susanna Moodie (nee Strickland), Robert Reid, Peter Robinson, Captain Charles Rubidge, Frances Stewart (nee Browne), Thomas Alexander Stewart, Samuel Strickland, Catharine Parr Traill (nee Strickland), and Robert Waller (complete list of names attached below). The guide, which was researched and compiled by Jean Shearman and Elizabeth Shearman Hall, is a tremendous piece of work and is an invaluable resource for researchers.

Fonds consists of an original unpublished manuscript written by Dennis Dickens Sweeting about his life. There is reference throughout to his involvement with theatre. Also included are two letters (1999) addressed to Jean Murray Cole from Beth Clarke-Gilman (niece of Dennis Sweeting) and Dennis Sweeting. These letters concern the reading of Sweeting's manuscript.

Fonds consists of essays, opinion pieces, research notes and correspondence generated by Professor Smith during his career as a political scientist and author. Included are research materials, correspondence, publishing and promotion materials relating to Smith's books on Michael Ignatieff, Ignatieff's World: A Liberal Leader for the 21st Century? (James Lorimer, 2006), and Ignatieff's World Updated: Iggy Goes to Ottawa (James Lorimer, 2009).

There is also an autographed copy of War on Ice; personal correspondence and greeting cards. We have copied out Scott's famous spaghetti sauce recipe (see note below).
