Tuer family fonds

This fonds consists of the Tuer family records. It includes family photographs and correspondence; estate records (including the "Kilshaw" records); last will and testament of Thomas Tuer 1873; music examination records of Mary Tuer; and teaching certificates of Margaret Tuer 1899-1918.

This fonds consists of correspondence, draft manuscripts, interview tapes and research notes pertaining to biographies of Foster Hewitt and Conn Smythe, etc.; notes and records resulting from Mr. Young's participation in the Royal Commission on Violence in the Communications Industry; and correspondence between Young and fellow media personalities including Robertson Davies, Peter Trueman, John Bassett and Pierre Berton. One of the largest series of records relates to the biography of his son, Neil Young.

David Macmillan fonds

This fonds consists of correspondence, research notes and original documents which were collected by Professor David Macmillan during his research. Items such as voters' lists for Victoria County, Ontario and a series of broadsides advertising land in Victoria County; documents from the Hudson's Bay Company, East Indies; minutes from the Barbados Board of Legislative Council, a Sydney Australia Company, and the Sydney Australian Committee of the New Steam Company; and a number of reproduction engravings and prints are included in the fonds. Also included in the fonds is a copy of Macmillan's 1964 Ph.D. thesis: "The Scottish Australian Connection..." and assorted pamphlets relating to New South Wales.

William Breyfogle fonds

This fonds consists of a bibliography of William Breyfogle's works and a biography. Also included is a photograph of Breyfogle which was taken by Roy Photo Studio, Peterborough in November, 1938. The covering letter from Velma McWilliams who compiled the bibliography is included as well.

This fonds consists of one school class photograph, and negative, from S.S. #5 from 1900. The names of all the children and the teacher are listed on the back of the photograph. There is one photograph, and negative of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Hope and which had belonged to Ross Comrie. There is also one photograph, and negative, of John, Hugh and Alexander McFee. There is family history written on the back of the photograph about each McFee and their families as well as where John McFee lived.

This fonds consists of two watercolours with one identified as Hastings, Ontario, and and the other identified as Forest City. Also included in the fonds are two pencil sketches and a photograph of another sketch. One sketch of two farms and a river with a steamboat on it, but otherwise unidentified. The other sketch is of the Anderson house, the Ashfield house, Mr. Harry Fowld's house and the Wanamaker's house, all in Hastings, Ontario. The photographic reproduction is of a sketch entitled Hastings on the Trent, Ontario. The watercolours and sketches were created by Rev. Michael A. Farrar.

This fonds consists of one photograph album, dating from around 1910 to the 1960's. There are assorted programmes and flyers, mostly from Middlebury College, Vermont and this includes programmes for the Coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Also included in the fonds is a 1924 newsletter for Franklin Square House (Girls' Home) and the "Second Book of Verse" by Betsey Buttles with some loose greeting cards and poems.

This collection consists of three ledgers of business accounts and one ledger of accounts for School Section No. 5, Mariposa Township, Victoria County. This is especially interesting as it goes from 1856 to 1907 giving teacher salaries and other expenses. Also included are 58 black and white photographs of Nova Scotia circa 1900.

Boyd family fonds

This fonds consists of records encompasing three generations of the Boyd family of Bobcaygeon. The fonds has been divided into the following series: photographs and glass negatives; Reverend Henry C. Avant; Mossom Boyd; Mossom Martin Boyd (Mossie); Lillian de Grassi Boyd; the De Grassi papers which are records of Dr. Alex De Grassi, Lillian Boyd's father, a physician from Lindsay, Upper Canada; Gardiner Cust Boyd; Mildred Boyd; Winnett (Brownie) Boyd; Laurence Chadwick Boyd; Mossom de Grassi Boyd; A. Sheila Boyd; stamps; artifacts; business which deals with the Boyds interests in lumbering; agricultural papers which deal with the Boyd's farming interests in buffalo and cattle; and, estate papers. The strength of this fonds lies in its completeness. Nothing was thrown away and there are grocery lists, laundry lists, staff salary books, furniture receipts, party and wedding invitations, school report cards, ship and railway timetables, diaries and approximately 20,000 pieces of correspondence. This has resulted in a remarkable record of a large household from the 1880s to the 1980s and an invaluable source for social and business historians.
