This collection was in the custody of Mrs. A.B. Tolmie before it was donated to the Trent University Archives.
Scope and content
This collection consists of three ledgers of business accounts and one ledger of accounts for School Section No. 5, Mariposa Township, Victoria County. This is especially interesting as it goes from 1856 to 1907 giving teacher salaries and other expenses. Also included are 58 black and white photographs of Nova Scotia circa 1900.

Ledger 1: record of letter sent and received, 1875 to 1881 continued on inside front cover - back cover says "Brother Duncan went to Canada 5 May 1871" - record of letters sent and received begins here 1871 to 1874 - ledger gives list of expenses and receipts, 1872 to 1883 - may ne a Scottish journal
Ledger 2: inside front cover identifies book owner as Duncan McNabb who also wrote that he came to Canada from Islay in 1871 - journal gives list of grain sold, number of bushels, and its price, and its price - scattered record of expenses up to 1897
Ledger 3: poetry clipped and pasted in an 1846 ledger - clippings are dated c. 1891 - much of the ledger is visible and is marked "Erin" on page tops
Ledger 4: account book for School Section # 5, Mariposa Township, Victoria County - account book dates from 1856 to 1907 - gives teachers salaries, cost od firewood, furniture etc.
Photographs: group of black and white mounted photographs: 48 measure 5.4 X 8.5 and 13 measure 4.5 X 6.5 - virtually all are scenes of Halifax and environs and dated from approximately 1900
