This item is a photocopy of an 1870's recipe book entitled Five Hundred Dollars Worth of Knowledge for One Dollar: Great Exposure of Liquors and Recipe Book by Charles H. Hagar. The book was published in Binghampton, New York and contains recipes for alcoholic drinks and sundry other recipes for things such as hair tonic, sore throats, pain killers and others.

This item is a 26-page photocopy of typescript of a letter of reminiscence written in 1910 by Margaret Bird, of Peterborough, Ontario, when she was an elderly woman. It tells of her abuse at the hands of her husband including one attempt to poison her. It describes her difficult life in late nineteenth-century Peterborough.

This document is a photocopy of a 1914 newspaper clipping written by Geta Helme. In the article, Helme describes her adventures travelling from Bonn, Germany back to England, and includes her contacts with British, American, and German officialdom. The article was published in the Lancashire Guardian, 22 August 1914.

The View was constructed from two James Little photographs located at Peterborough Centennial Museum and Archives. This item is a by-law which sets forth the provisions for granting certificates to tavern-keepers or other gaming houses selling spirituous liquors, along with the costs of such licenses and the applicable fines for breaches of the law. Notation on the back of this item indicates that this copy of the by-law was submitted as evidence in the case of Cumming vs. Faucher, March 16, 1872.

This item is a notebook which belonged to Roy H. Parsons. It contains notes on surveying lectures given by Professor J.B. Davis in the autumn of 1895.

Item consists of a bound volume of both published and handwritten pages. The published title page reads as follows: "Practical points, or, maxims in conveyancing, drawn from the daily experience of a very extensive practice, by a late eminent conveyancer, Mr. Bradley, to which are added, critical observations on the various and essential parts of a deed. By the Late J. Ritson, Esq, second edition, corrected, London, 1820." Several published pages are interspersed throughout the hand-written pages and are bound together with them. The name Chas. Avery Moore (May 1824) appears a few times near the beginning of the volume, as does the name W.H.I. Vizard. The hand-written pages are an excellent example of exemplary penmanship.

This item is a pencil sketch of Young's Point. On the paper backing of the frame which has been removed the following is written: "Young's Point - Edward Roper c 1882? from his sketchbook, donated by Gordon Roper. Young's Point (north of Peterborough) from Edward Roper's sketch book, 1882, bought through Michael Bell". There is some speculation as to whether the name Edward Roper should have been Edward Caddy.
