Collection consists of a guide to nearly all of the Frances Stewart letters located at Trent University Archives and elsewhere. The guide is a biographical reference tool which indexes all the names which appear in the letters. The indexing locates each name in the approximately 450 letters and gives the corresponding page number in the transcripts (94-006); it provides the source of biographic information, and explains the relationship of each person to Thomas Alexander Stewart and Frances Browne Stewart. The guide is arranged alphabetically by last name and includes hundreds of names, i.e., Sydney Bellingham, Rev. George Brabazon, Rev. Francis Browne, John Burnham, Rev. Mark Burnham, Zaccheus Burnham, Frances Anne Edgeworth, Agnes Fitzgibbon (nee Moodie), Catherine Elizabeth Kirkpatrick (nee Browne), Susanna Moodie (nee Strickland), Robert Reid, Peter Robinson, Captain Charles Rubidge, Frances Stewart (nee Browne), Thomas Alexander Stewart, Samuel Strickland, Catharine Parr Traill (nee Strickland), and Robert Waller (complete list of names attached below). The guide, which was researched and compiled by Jean Shearman and Elizabeth Shearman Hall, is a tremendous piece of work and is an invaluable resource for researchers.
Shearman FamilyThe fonds consists of the correspondence and manuscripts of the Peterborough author and teacher, Francis J.A. Morris, primarily relating to his interests in botany, entomology, and classical and modern literature. The papers include both prose and poetry selections, some of which are unpublished. Morris wrote for diverse journals, among them the Canadian Forum, and the Canadian Entomologist. Also among the papers are published copies of some of his works, and copies of the works of other authors, mainly in the field of natural science and botany or entomology. There are photographs included, some of which are reproduced here.
Morris, Francis J.A.Fonds is comprised of correspondence, published articles, photographs, slides, and CDs of speeches, interviews, and meetings pertaining to the career of Don Tapscott.
Tapscott, DonFonds consists of records documenting Peter Gzowski’s professional activities as the host of CBC’s Morningside (predominant 1997) as well as his annual charity golf tournament, the Peter Gzowski Invitational (PGI) (1986-2010). Gzowski’s personal life and education is also documented, as well as Gzowski family history from 1813-2002.
Professional activities documented include researching and producing Morningside and ongoing work related to other CBC programming. Correspondence includes listener letters and internal communications within CBC. Research and production material include show notes, logs, drafts, scripts, and handwritten notes. PGI material includes copies of poems from PGI events, photographs, ads and programs, and limited correspondence.
Personal activities documented include Gzowski’s undergraduate studies, honours and awards received throughout his schooling and professional life, projects such as research into Stephen Leacock, and Gzowski’s death in 2002. Material documenting Gzowski’s undergraduate studies include photographs and course essays. Awards include The Canadian Journalism Foundation lifetime achievement award and an honourary LL.D. degree from the University of Western Ontario. Research material includes correspondence, drafts, notes, and photocopies of published material. Gzowski’s death is documented through several volumes of memorial books.
Gzowski family history documented include genealogies, education, and personal relationships. The professional life of Peter Gzowski’s paternal great-aunt, Hope Morgan, as a soprano is also documented. Correspondence includes letters from Peter Gzowski’s mother, Margaret Young, to her own parents; letters between Gzowski’s paternal grandparents, Vera Gzowski and Harold N. Gzowski; and letters between his father, Harold E. Gzowski and his paternal grandparents. Photographs include portraits, some framed, of Gzowski’s paternal relatives. Research material related to Gzowski family history includes correspondence, photographs, and photocopies of published material, especially about Sir Casimir Gzowski, Peter Gzowski’s paternal great-great-grandfather.

Gzowski, PeterThis addition to the fonds consists of field naturalist newsletters and journals from across Ontario, with many of the publications including illustrations. Also included in the fonds are numerous bird spotting forms and error forms for the Ontario breeding bird atlas.
Sadler, DouglasThis addition to the fonds consists of articles and booklets written by Frank Morris; manuscripts and published articles by Douglas Sadler; correspondence, minutes of meetings relating to Sadler's involvement in environmental and naturalist issues and activities; correspondence relating to Teacher's College and several issues of the Young Naturalist. Fonds is arranged into 6 series:

Collection consists of correspondence, research material, and publications relating to Burke's research on A.J.M. Smith’s professional career and personal life, gathered during her doctoral studies at the University of Ottawa (1975-1978). The correspondence includes letters with Smith’s contemporaries and Burke’s nomination of Smith for an honorary degree at the University of Calgary. Photocopied research material includes course listings from Michigan State between 1931 and 1945 (when Smith worked there) and histories of the university. Also includes an audio cassette of 1965 WUOM Radio broadcast "A Tribute to Roethke," featuring E.G. Burrows (host), Allan Seeger; Donald Hall; A.J.M. Smith; Nelson Bently.
Burke, AnneFonds consists of documents and photographs relating to Harley Cummings' education and military career; his research notes, correspondence, and manuscripts relating to family history and Ottawa schools history; and miscellaneous scrapbooks.
Cummings, Harley R.Fonds consists of maps and plans of the Ottawa and Haliburton areas, time-books of Bronsons and Weston logging firm, and photographs of the building of a railway, and of the Haliburton area. Included also are research material and manuscripts relating to books which Harley R. Cummings wrote about schools in the Ottawa area, and on the history of Haliburton. Included are notes on John Strachan and a transcript of his diary. The fonds also includes several genealogical charts of the MacCallum family.
Cummings, Harley R.Fonds consists of Harley Cummings' research material for Early Days in Haliburton, published in 1963. Included are original wage lists, letters, receipts, accounting records, and agreements of the Ottawa logging company, Bronsons and Weston, with several documents relating to their York Branch operation. Documents relating to business transactions with the Boyd lumbering company of Bobcaygeon, and with individuals along the Peterson Road and Bobcaygeon Road who provided supplies and lodging for the workers comprise a part of the holdings. Mentioned are the Egan Farm in Dungannon Township, Hastings County, and the Bruton Farm on the Peterson Road in Haliburton County. There are references, too, to the operation of cadges between locations (commercial carriers which transported supplies by horses and sleigh/buggy). Also included are copy maps; photographs; notes; handwritten transcriptions of diaries of Alexander Niven and of Mrs. C.R. Stewart; and photographs of Lillian de Grassi Boyd, the Blomfield [Blumfield] family of Lakefield, and the Strickland homestead in Lakefield.
Cummings, Harley R.This fonds consists of the manuscript of the publication "Historical Sketches of Peterborough" by Martha Ann Kidd and Louis Taylor. Also included are unbound sections of the publication, a newspaper clipping, and the invitation list for the book launching.
Kidd, Martha AnnThis addition to the fonds consists of correspondence of Frances Stewart and her mother's family (the Wallers). Some letters relate to her upbringing in Ireland. The remaining correspondence concerns her life in Douro Township as one of the first pioneers. Frances describes pioneer life and its attendant hardships, the settlement and development of the Peterborough area and Douro Township and social, family, religious and economic life in early Ontario. Some correspondence concerns the publication of 'Our Forest Home'.
Stewart, Frances AnneThe fonds consists of the literary and personal correspondence; literary and poetic manuscripts; and typescripts of reviews of anthologies, lectures and essays by and about Arthur J.M. Smith. Also included in the fonds are photographs and prints.
Smith, Arthur James MarshallThis addition to the fonds consists of correspondence, graduate and undergraduate degrees, manuscripts of poems, galley proofs, manuscript sheet music by Violet Archer and Dika Newton, manuscript drafts of Ph.D. thesis and M.A. thesis.
Smith, Arthur James MarshallThis addition to the fonds consists of correspondence, research notes, newspaper clippings, art catalogues, manuscripts relating to Paul Kane; anthropological research, Irish literary personalities, native art, culture and artifacts, cutlery and trade beads. Also included are personal records of Professor Kidd and his career at the Royal Ontario Museum and Trent University . Kidd, Kenneth E.This fonds consists of correspondence, accounts, notes, clippings and articles relating to the conference held at Trent University on January 24 and 25, 1975.
Binder 1 includes pre-confederation preparations; conference material; addresses by Hon. Hugh Faulkner; correspondence; and budget material. Binder 2 includes assorted clippings relating to the conference and 3 copies of May 1975 edition of the Journal of Canadian Studies which dealt with the conference.
Conference on the State of English Language Publishing in CanadaThis fonds consists of a "School Exercise Book" which contains a handwritten biographical sketch of Miss Burgess' "First School", undoubtedly written to be read to the members of the Shakespeare Club at one of their monthly meetings. The 31 loose sheets consist of poems and verse written by Burgess over the years as inspiration or occasion presented.
Burgess, VernaCollection consists of works by and about author and artist, P.K. Page. This collection is part of Special Collections, and the monographs works are catalogued in Omni and can be browsed here. Page, P. K. (Patricia Kathleen)This addition to the fonds consists of photocopies of correspondence of Anya Seton; a play called the "Rufus letters" 1890; a manuscript of a play; and an unpublished autobiography. The fonds also contains original manuscript and typescript articles by Elise Thompson including an interview, biographical notes and photocopies of articles on Seton. There are also photocopies of letters and documents pertaining to Seton's relationship with Grace Seton. As well in 1992 an inventory list was added of all Seton paintings in Philmot Ranch, Cimarron, New Mexico, including an inventory of Seton paintings in the Smithsonian as well as correspondence regarding a Seton painting.
Wadland, JohnThis fonds consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings and the M.A. thesis of Margaret Heideman of Peterborough, Ontario. Most of the correspondence is from Robertson Davies who was editor of the Peterborough Examiner and for whom Heideman wrote book reviews.
