This item is a letter to Sir Henry Earle, from E. Phillips of Sutton Oaks, Macclesfield, England, which accompanies a copy of the book, "The Langton Records" - Journals and Letters from Canada, 1837-1846, edited by Ellen Josephine Philips (TC F5517.L285) and which is inscribed to Sir Henry Earle.

This fonds consists of three issues of the University of Manitoba publication VOX which contain stories, poetry, editorials, reports and a graduate section which has photographs of the graduates for the year of publication. In all issues there are short stories and poetry written by Margaret Laurence, under her maiden name of Jean Margaret (Peggy) Wemyss. There is also a photograph of her in one of the issues.

This fonds consists of a "School Exercise Book" which contains a handwritten biographical sketch of Miss Burgess' "First School", undoubtedly written to be read to the members of the Shakespeare Club at one of their monthly meetings. The 31 loose sheets consist of poems and verse written by Burgess over the years as inspiration or occasion presented.

Fonds consists of two microfilm reels. The first is of Cape Croker Indian Reserve Band Records, 1880-1966, and includes land sale records, correspondence in sale of land, and Jesuit diaries. Source information noted on this film is as follows: "This material lent for microfilming to the Department of Public Records and Archives by Mr. Wilmer Nadjiwon of Cape Croker, February, 1968, and was returned to him. Accession Number 6018". There is also reference to "Ontario Archives" throughout. The second is of Cape Croker Indian Reserve Records, 1856-1919 and includes Paul Smith field notes, band council resolutions, native cures, and history of Cape Croker reserve. Source information noted on this film is as follows: "Rec'd Dec. 12, 1966, Dept. Ethnology."

This item is a roll book for fires in and around Peterborough, Ontario, between 1886 and 1900, with names of fire-fighters, drill entries, dates and places of fires as well as false alarms.

Wadsworth titled "A History of Exploratory Surveys Conducted by John Stroughton Dennis, Provincial Land Surveyor, in the Muskoka, Perry Sound and Nipissing Districts, 1860-1865." It also includes a press clipping and an obituary of Vernon B. Wadsworth.

Rice verifying the signatures of the Attorney General (John A. Macdonald) and the Deputy Registrar (Thomas Mayor) on the other three documents.

This fonds consists of a photograph of the steamship Lintonia which plied the waters between Lakefield and Young's Point. There is also a ticket for the Empress in this fonds which was sister ship to the Lintonia.

Fonds consists of an undated photograph of Susan Burnham Greeley, and a newspaper article from the [Colborne Express, 22 September 1904] regarding the death of Greeley. Also included is an envelope addressed to E.C. Caddy of Cobourg, Ontario and mailed in 1895, with handwritten notation "from Cousin Susan".

This collection consists of 81 reproduction prints of original engravings of political figures removed from books. Most of the political figures are nineteenth century public figures such as George Brown, General Simcoe, Lord Durham, Robert Baldwin, Sir John A. Macdonald, Louis Lafontaine, Guy Carleton, Egerton Ryerson and William Lyon Mackenzie.

This collection consists of an undated broadside of furniture and house furnishings of Disney Bros., Bowmanville, and an undated broadside of ladies' and children's clothing, Hardy's: The Hewson store in Cobourg, Ontario. It also contains a broadside detailing conditions of sale of the Innes Mill near Grafton dated 1876. With this broadside is an original bill of sale, signed by purchaser George Fowler and dated December 12, 1876.

This item is a loosely bound set of reports of the Cramahe and Haldimand Female Tract Society dealing with income and the distribution of tracts to "place divine truth before the minds of our fellow sinners." This addition to the fonds consists of legal documents and newspaper clippings pertaining to Captain Charles Rubidge and his family. Also included in the fonds is one photograph of Rubidge, three issues of early Peterborough newspapers and a sketch (copy) of the Village of Peterborough from 1828 by Basil Hall, produced by the camera lucida.

This fonds consists of documents pertaining to Arthur James Marshall Smith, i.e. birth and baptismal documents, a marriage certificate and contract, passports, U.S.A. naturalization documents, his death certificate, etc. Also included is his Governor General Annual Literary Award medal, received in 1944, and two personal photographs dated 1925 and c1932. Correspondence regarding the purchase of the A.J.M. Smith collection by Trent University, and lists of books, hand copied in pencil, are included. Other correspondence addressed to A.J.M. Smith and to Peter Smith from Buffy Glassco, Ralph Gustafson, Leon Edel, and others is included.
