This fonds consists of approximately 843 original cartoons by A.G. Racey covering a wide range of subjects. Due to the universal nature of his cartoons, Racey gained international recognition and his works were reproduced in numerous newspapers and magazines around the world. A file list and descriptions of the cartoons, including dates where known, is available below.
Racey, Arthur G.This fonds consists of newspaper clippings, notes, etc. regarding a canoeing accident at Balsam Lake Camp in 1926, as well as correspondence, articles, etc. on Balsam Lake. This fonds also contains two photos, one of Rev. Delaney, and one of the northwest shore of Balsam Lake.
Delaney, Reverend LloydThis addition to the fonds consists of correspondence from Mary Northway to Mally Gibson, and between Mary Northway and Margaret Van Every. There are also papers and booklets written by Mary Northway as well as miscellaneous newspaper clippings and photographs.
Northway, Mary LouiseThis item is an account book dated 1902-1903 of a furniture factory owned by Frank Sanford of Fenelon Falls. At the end of the book, several pages are filled with grain accounts. Throughout, many pages are covered with pasted-in pictures from magazines, and a child's drawings. There are also three pages of notes relating to British colonies.
Fletcher, T.M.This fonds consists of transcripts of interviews with Peterborough and area citizens concerning their perceptions of the social, cultural, and political aspects of life in Peterborough from the early 1900s to 1974. There are also three cassette tapes forming one interview with Lorna Cotton-Thomas.
This addition to the fonds consists of correspondence, minutes and budget statements relating to the operation of the Journal of Canadian Studies office and the publication of the Journal. There are also manuscripts of articles which had been submitted for publication.
Journal of Canadian StudiesThis addition to the fonds consists of records relating to the career of Reverend Elgie Joblin such as correspondence, church bulletins, yearbooks, newspaper clippings and photographs. The records deal with various charges throughout Canada and most of the records concern his career administering residential schools, native education and religion.
Joblin, Elgie E.M.This fonds consists of correspondence, sketches and class lecture notes of Erik Loder. Loder's theories of art are discernible in his jottings and notes. Also included are numerous art catalogues and exhibition notes; slides of Loder art works; sketches, drawings and paintings; personal cards and letters sent at the time of Loder's death in 1993; art auction and sale lists.
Loder, ErikThis addition to the fonds consists of correspondence between Gavin Henderson and Professor George Warecki; Harvey Locke when President of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society; and, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. The fonds also contain the program and letters of congratulation regarding Gavin's Order of Canada which was conferred in 1993. Records pertaining to the St. Lawrence Islands National Parks and the Thousand Islands Heritage area, early minutes of the Conservation Council of Ontario (1951-1955), brochures published by the Council as well as articles by Gavin Henderson are also included in the fonds.
Henderson, GavinThis fonds consists of two volumes of notes with pasted-in illustrations of house and furniture design. Included are University of Toronto lecture notes on history of household life and loosely inserted in the volumes are further notes and examinations.
Moir, DorothyThis item is an account book which appears to have been that of a Peterborough area shoe retailer, C.E. Smith Boots and Shoes. Loosely inserted in the book is a letter dated 1913 from Hastings written by J.F. McCarthy to C.E. Smith, esq., regarding an order for a pair of shoes. Several of the accounts itemized in the book are with shoe companies. Glued in the book is a "Bank of Montreal, Peterborough" bank slip.
C.E. Smith Boots and ShoesThis item is a pencil sketch depicting three houses, each of which has two chimneys, with a continuous fence running along the front of all three. There is a woman, man and child walking towards one of the houses. On the back of the sketch is written "#17140 at Roy's Studio, Peterborough". The sketch is most likely by Rev. Michael Farrar and shows Hastings, Canada West.
This fonds consists of one 1850 notebook entitled "J.K. Roche's Field Notes, Port Hope" which contains survey notes on properties in Port Hope, Canada West, and which belonged to the estate of John D. Smith. There are also two survey documents describing Lot 3, Concession 1 in Hope Township which is signed by John K. Roche and is dated July 20, 1844, and one which is signed by Geo. A. Stewart, Ward, and is undated. Also included in the fonds are three unidentified and undated school building architectural drawings.
Hope TownshipThis fonds consists of four photographs, two of which are copies of photographs found in the Geale-Rogers Papers (82-022). One of these two is a duplicate of photo #400, Box 14, and is of Calcutt House, Peterborough. A negative is attached. The other is a duplicate of photo #27 of Album #6, Box 15, and is of a cottage on Little Otter Island, Stoney Lake, Ontario. A negative is attached. The other two photographs are of the Canadian General Electric Company building, Peterborough. One is an exterior shot and the other an interior. Also included is a negative of photo #48, Box 1 Folder 4 of The Peterborough City Photograph Collection (83-008), and is of the Salvation Army Barracks, Peterborough. None of the photographs and negatives are dated. Also included is a photocopy of a map of Stoney Lake, with Little Otter Island highlighted.
Otto, Stephen A.This fonds consists of correspondence between Cyril (and Jane) Greenland and Blodwen Davies. There are references to Blodwen's research on Dr. Maurice Bucke, and also to her research on the Mennonites, and other personal matters. There is also a letter from Robertson Davies to Blodwen regarding her research on Bucke in which he also refers to the Feinberg-Walt Whitman collection.

The fonds includes correspondence, legal and architectural description of the property and building, historical background, and photocopies of photographs of the house.

Rye, Harold B.This item is an affectionate letter written by John Black from [Stockton] to his wife, Catherine Black, living in Carleton Place, Upper Canada. Black expresses his sorrow at not being able to send money to his wife for such a long time. He indicates the "very hard winter" and problems at his workplace, a "shop in town" which builds wagons, as reasons for not having any money to send.
Black, JohnThis collection consists of a book of typed recipes with "J.R. Ferguson" hand-written on the front cover. Its cover is hand-made with a coloured drawing of a woman carrying a platter with the name . Also included in the fonds is a letter on Hall & Furgason letterhead (Produce Commission Merchants, New York) from a son to his mother dated September 20, 1895. (Note different spelling of the name Ferguson/Furgason).
