This index consists of computer output microfiches of land records held in Archives of Ontario. The microfiches provide an index to Crown Land Papers, Canada Company Papers, and the Peter Robinson Papers from 1819 to 1830.

The fonds consists mostly of Helen Marryat's (nee Helen Fowlds) personal experiences as a nurse in World War I, and her activities as a local historian. There are clippings of her articles in local newspapers, historical maps (drawn by Gerald Marryat) and other materials relating to settlement of Hastings and district such as education and nursing. Also included are the correspondence and photograph collections of her brothers, Donald and Eric (mostly from World War I), and material on Frederick Marryat (1792-1848), navy captain and novelist. In December 2001, Trent University Archives launched an online exhibit which depicts Helen Fowld's experiences in World War I. The 15 microfilm reels from the Department of Lands and Forests holdings contain field survey notes for most townships in southern Ontario dating from 1784 to 1945. The handwritten guide to the survey notes was prepared by students in a geography course at Trent University. This guide is available in the Reading Room.

The fonds consists of family and related papers of Henry Fowlds and his family including James S. Fowlds and H.M. Fowlds. It also includes business correspondence, invoices, some journals and cashbooks, mortgages as well as deeds regarding the business of Henry Fowlds, Jas. S. Fowlds and Bros. and H.M. Fowlds. This collection consists of deeds, mortgages, leases, and an account sheet, 1864, for the Townships of Dummer, Burleigh and Anstruther.

This fonds consists of documents, from 1869 to 1902, including sale of timber receipts, deeds of land and quit claims of John E. Proctor of Brighton, Ontario.

The fonds consists of correspondence and accounts of John Tucker Williams (1841-1854) and of his son Arthur T.H. Williams (1860-1885). Included are leases, deeds and lists of John Tucker Williams' land holdings; correspondence and accounts relating to the Canada Company; material relating to the John Tucker Williams' estate; material relating to the estate of Silas Williams and Company, merchant tailors; and other material relating to various members of the family.

This collection consists of the following documents: a deed from Gilbert Bogart and Cornelius Van Horn to Gilbert A. Clapp, Adolphustown Township, 1827; deed from Azel Hawkins to John Brown, Hope, 1830; deed from Luke Bedford to John Brown, Hope, 1830; deed from John Megrath to John Donaldson, Otonabee, 1836; deed from Joseph Clarke to John Brown, Hope, 1838; deed from John Potter to Philip Potter, Darlington, 1840; deed from John Kennedy to James Crofts Kennedy, Port Hope, 1864; conditions of sale document re Alexander Lackie, Millbrook, with poster attached, 1887. The John Brown mentioned in three of the documents was an important merchant in Port Hope and a member of the Assembly of Upper Canada.

This fonds consists of one 1850 notebook entitled "J.K. Roche's Field Notes, Port Hope" which contains survey notes on properties in Port Hope, Canada West, and which belonged to the estate of John D. Smith. There are also two survey documents describing Lot 3, Concession 1 in Hope Township which is signed by John K. Roche and is dated July 20, 1844, and one which is signed by Geo. A. Stewart, Ward, and is undated. Also included in the fonds are three unidentified and undated school building architectural drawings.
