Fonds consists of call-up notification postcards (1874-1880) sent by Lieut.-Col. Alex. McKenzie of Barrie, Ontario, to Lieut. John Sutherland of Bond Head, Ontario regarding the Battalion being raised at Barrie for the Northwest Rebellion. Also included are genealogical records related to the Cummings and MacCallum families, a photocopy of a book written by Harley Cummings entitled Cummings-MacCallum: A Tale of Two Families; notes and other materials related to the teaching career of Cummings; three photographs: Hon. Thos. Mackay's Mills, Distillery etc. and part of New Edinburgh, Rideau Falls, New Edinburgh, from Railway Bridge, and an unidentified photo similar to the previous two; and three maps: 1. Ontario Department of Highways Road Map of the Provisional County of Haliburton, 1952 (original); 2. Plan of Part of York River and its Southern Tributaries, Egan's River, Hudson's Creek & Allen's Creek together with the Head Waters of the E. & W. Branches of Crow River & Buckhorn Branch of Ottanabe [Otonabee] River, Tributaries to the St. Lawrence, surveyed by John A. Snow, Hull, 1855 (in four sheets, copied from microfilm); 3. The fonds of the Peterborough Cricket Club consists of scorebooks of the club (G. Whitaker Company Cricket Club) 1937-1954; 1965, as well as photographs of players and matches. Also included are newspaper clippings and rule books. Amongst the cricketeers is Richard B. Rogers.

This fonds consists of: a minute book of Loyal Orange Lodge (Diamond) Number 80, Peterborough, Ontario, containing minutes of both regular and special meetings from January 1874 to September 1900 and membership rolls for the same years: a minute book of Loyal Orange Lodge Number 80 including regular meetings of January 1905 to March 1909; a Blue degree dated March 1905 to June 1906; a Royal Arch Purple degree dated July 1905 to 1908; membership rolls; and the building committee minute book, December 1932 to December 1935.

Covers faded and chipped, small closed pull on front cover repaired on the verso with cello tape, tops of pages 25-42 torn with no loss of text, 2 leaves (p. 21/22, 23/24) contain closed vertical cuts without loss, else good. Passionate arguments for the building of the Pacific railway; McLeod, 1821-99, (aka Britannicus) "was concerned about the future of the Pacific Railway scheme during the tenure of office of the Mackenzie government. During those years he sought to keep the project alive with letters in the press and pamphlets." He lived to see the line completed. Rare. Peel (3) 721. [S409]

The fonds consists of photocopies of the following memoirs of settlement in the Bobcaygeon Area. a) Reminiscence of Mossom Boyd, written down by M.M. Boyd, 1875-1877, typescript copy, 5 pages. b) Manuscript copy of J.W. Bicks "Reminiscences and Memorandum on Coming to Canada in 1837 and Dunsford family in 1838;" gathered 1891 (January 9) 5 pages. c) George Dunsford Reminiscences, taken down by H.J. Wickham, 1894 in Miss Boyd's hand.

This item is a watercolour of chrysanthemums by Susanna Moodie. It includes the inscription "or dear Victor with Grandmother's kind love. Designed from Nature in the 72 year of her age, Toronto, August 31th 1875."

This fonds consists of four maps dated between 1875 and 1905:: Martyn's Mill on the Otonabee River; land flooded by the Otonabee River in Smith Township; the Otonabee River between Dickson's and Martyn's Dams; and the acreage between Catchacoma Lake and Gull Lake.

Item is a map entitled Romaine's Map of the Town of Peterborough and Village of Ashburnham. It is "Compiled from Registered Plans and Actual Surveys", and is "Published by Robert Romaine, at the Office of the "Peterborough Review", Peterborough, Ont., 1875". Further description follows: scale equals 4 chains to 1 inch, size 164.5cm x 116cm, original, mounted on linen, laminated, 1875.

Octavo (22.3 cm x 15 cm), pp. [vi], 41, original grey printed paper covers with title-page reproduced in frame, pamphlet stitch binding. Dust soiled, nicks to head & tail of spine, light water stains (tide lines) to upper and lower cover edges and very lightly to title-page and rear blank, otherwise, except for mild toning to the edges, interior is clean and bright. Overall a very good copy. [1941]

This collection consists of a number of articles written by Norman McBain about families in Cavan and about topics of interest in the Cavan area, i.e. inns, taxes, schools, etc. It also includes the following: an article by E.S. Clarry on an 1821 petition to the King regarding voting rights; a bylaw re taverns; the history of Fairmount Church and Methodist givings; an 1896 ballot for Cavan officers; a clipping re George Berry; a list of Overseers of Highways, fence viewers, etc.; an audited financial statement of Cavan for 1875; a newspaper report of Cavan Council business; an invoice re sidewalks; notes on Cavan town hall; and several pages of original hand-written notes re persons holding various offices in Cavan. Also included are copies of clippings re Cavan Blazers, school graduation results, etc.

The fonds consists of the typescript memoirs of Minnie E. McHolm of her life in Frome, Somerset, England, to March 1913, then the memoirs of life as a domestic on the Canadian prairies, outside of Regina, to December 1920. The fonds also includes two booklets of Mrs. McHolm's poetry, The Indiscretion of Mary Jane and Sunset at Golden Hill. Additional material received in 2003 includes another book of poetry, Singing With a Swing, and newspaper clippings regarding Minnie McHolm. Also included are 2 Christmas cards featuring McHolm poems signed by Minnie McHolm and a newspaper obituary.
