This collection consists of a copy of the pamphlet "Deed of Settlement of Pugets Sound Agricultural Society" [printed in 1912], a photocopy of pages of an article with the title "Exile in the Wilderness" by Jean Murray Cole, University of Washington Press, 1979, which refers to this Society, and a letter dated January 6, 1994 from Anne Morton to Hugh Anson-Cartwright with enclosures which establish the date of printing of the pamphlet as approximately 1912.

Forty-seven volumes and eight boxes of records relating to Peterborough Teachers' College. Includes sessional reports, training registers, practice teaching records, 1908 to 1968; also registration and record cards, 1946 to 1973. Also included is a Public School Daily Register for Bobcaygeon, 1883-1885.

Peterborough Normal School collection
This collection consists of 14 photograph negatives of Peterborough Normal School, undated, and portraying people and the grounds of the school. The negatives are enclosed in a J.J. Gilfillan, Orono, Ontario, photographer's envelope, with the name Calvin Hamm, Orono, Ontario written on it. Calvin Hamm was born on March 28, 1909 at Orono, son of Ernest Hamm and Florence Hughson. He was appointed Principal of the Morley Consolidated School at Stratton in September 1935 and received his B.A. at Western University in June 1943. He later taught high school in Fort Frances (taken from a typed information enclosure which accompanies the collection). Also included is a Peterborough Normal School Christmas Card, undated; a Peterborough Normal School Literary Society invitation, 1930; and a photograph of the "Floating Bridge, Bridgenorth, Chemong Lake, 1933."

This fonds consists of 58 volumes of the Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School yearbook called "The Echoes"; 2 Minute Books for the Girls' Athletic Association from 1908 to 1923; 13 scattered volumes of "Commencement Exercises" between 1937 and 1951; and 1 volume of "Reports of the Business Board of the Collegiate Echoes of the P.C.I." dated 1916-1918. Additional materials were donated by Dr. Fern Rahmel in 2002 on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of P.C.V.S.

This collection consists of eighteen prize lists from agricultural fairs in Ontario including the Canadian National Exhibition, the Ontario Provincial Winter Fair, the Central Canada Exhibition in Ottawa, the Western Fair in London, Ontario; the Dominion Exposition in Regina, Saskatchewan; the Canadian Industrial Exhibition in Winnipeg, Manitoba; the Central Exhibition in Cobourg, Ontario and various small town agricultural societies lists.
This collection consists of miscellaneous ledgers and legal documents of businesses, doctors, etc. in Peterborough, surrounding counties and areas in southern Ontario.

This fonds consists of a scrapbook containing photographs depicting Oak Ridge Camp activities and canoe trips. Included in the album are newspaper clippings relating to Stoney Lake Regatta. Photographs of Mount Rushmore, Catalina, Yellowstone Park and La Jolla Beach can also be found in this collection.

Stoney Lake: American Canoe Association fonds
This fonds consists of materials on the American Canoe Association, compiled by Jean Cole for research on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Regatta at Juniper Point, Stoney Lake. The compilation consists of copies of papers from the American Canoe Association Book, 1883; copies of articles from the Peterborough Examiner concerning the Stoney Lake Meet in 1883 and a 1976 map produced by the Stoney Lake Cottagers Association with an accompanying booklet listing property owners on the lake and the lot locations. Also included in the collection are copies of American Canoe Association yearbooks (1938-1947), some badges, a belt buckle and membership cards.

This fonds consists of papers, correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports and financial statements relating to the National Association of Friendship Centres. The records identify the relationship between the native-aboriginal friendship centres and the Secretary of State, and, the relationships between the national organization and the provincial and territorial federations and local Native Friendship Centres.

The fonds includes photocopies of the following items: Township Patent Book, 1820-1872, including the names of the grantees, lot purchased and dates as well as township/municipal election returns, and oaths of office for 1850. It also includes the correspondence of John Reid, township road surveyor, with elected officials and citizens, including maps, drawings etc.; township business papers, including receipts, taxation abatements, and school business; and Statute Labour lists and returns for the year 1850. Bobcaygeon Road : Re-survey fonds. Additions
This addition to the fonds consists of photocopies of the original report, field notes, diary and index of the re-survey of free grants on the Bobcaygeon Road, south of Bell's Line. The field notes are in diagram form with remarks on soil and timber. The fonds also includes notes on side roads, Concession "A", Township of Sherbourne, Ridout, Franklin and the "Queen's Line", and the Township of Franklin. Also included is a typescript of a report dated July 15, 1862 to Hon. Wm. Macdougall, Commissioner of Crown Lands.

This fonds consists of scattered issues of The Advocate (published by the Ontario Temperance Federation) from 1955 to 1971; newspaper clippings regarding temperance, the advent of liquor licensing by the Ontario Government and drinking laws in Ontario.

The periodical was first named Beaverdamn (1974), then The Wilderness Canoeist (1975-1981), followed by Nastawgan (1982-current). Also included are miscellaneous records related to the Wilderness Canoe Association, i.e., membership list 1989, brochures, letterhead, by-laws, minutes of one meeting (2002), and 33 photo contact prints.

This fonds consists of two letters. One is from Susanna Moodie to Mrs. Katie Vickery, Susanna Moodie's daughter, which is undated, and the other is from from her publisher in England congratulating her upon the success of Roughing it in the Bush and enclosing a contract for a subsequent book entitled Mark Huddleston. A watercolour by Susanna Moodie was also donated at the same time but accessioned later (see 89-1062).

Fonds is comprised of personal and professional correspondence, newspaper clippings, honorary degrees and other documents pertaining to the life and career of Thomas H.B Symons. The newspaper clippings are on the subject of French as a second language in Ontario schools, the Sturgeon Falls School Crisis (1971), and the Ministerial Commission on French Language Secondary Education. Some of the correspondence and other documents pertain to the Mulholland Family (1961-1965).
