This fonds consists of research in the 19th and 20th century Canadian historical geography, specifically emigration and settlement from British Isles to Upper Canada, the Trent Canal use during WWII, the environmental and cultural consequences of flooding from the Trent Canal dam in the late 19th century, and research on Bon Echo, Algonquin, and Banff National Parks. Research is also included on European migration and land settlement patterns and processes in Cape Province, South Africa in the early 19th century and in Western Australia in the early 20th century. Included in the research materials are several maps, a small collection of photo negatives, and microfilm reels.

Fonds is comprised of 54 audio reel-to-reel tapes created by Lionel Rubinoff; the tapes are recordings of contributions by Professor Rubinoff to CBC Ideas and other CBC programs broadcast in the late 1960s and 1970s. Also included are recordings of various lectures and a Sony reel-to-reel tape player.

Fonds consists of correspondence, briefs, speeches, minutes, legal documents, copies of Treaties, budget documents, newsletters, bulletins and booklets pertaining to the Indian-Eskimo Association of Canada in the 1960s and 1970s. Also included are a few documents pertaining to Dr. Eleanor Wilma Sutherland and a Grandin College Yearbook belonging to Richard McNeely.

Fonds is a research collection comprised of handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, photocopies of published and primary materials, transcriptions of letters, video and cassette tapes. Subject areas pertain primarily to Catharine Parr Traill, Susanna Moodie, Robertson Davies, and a conference held at Trent University in honour of Timothy Findley (1997). Also included are handwritten notes, correspondence with researchers, publishers and editors, and copies of talks, papers and manuscripts by Professor Peterman.
