This collection consists of eighteen prize lists from agricultural fairs in Ontario including the Canadian National Exhibition, the Ontario Provincial Winter Fair, the Central Canada Exhibition in Ottawa, the Western Fair in London, Ontario; the Dominion Exposition in Regina, Saskatchewan; the Canadian Industrial Exhibition in Winnipeg, Manitoba; the Central Exhibition in Cobourg, Ontario and various small town agricultural societies lists.
Agricultural fair prize lists were produced in advance of the fair in order to attract people to compete in various categories. The categories consisted of a number of different elements that were part of agricultural life for a number of people. For instance categories included entries of the best cow or calf, horse showmanship, poultry, pig and sheep breeds. Produce competitions ranged from wheat, barley, rye, corn and oats to homemade pickles, jams and jellies. There were usually floral arrangement and best vegetable arrangement competitions. Ladies would often be able to enter competitions involving sewing and handywork. The prize lists always had advertisers and a list of contributors to the prizes. The book was divided into sections so that each competitor could find the competitions he/she desired to enter, a list of the categories and a small description of who could enter as well as the prizes to be awarded. The cover of the book listed when the fair was to take place and inside there was a list of fair organizers and contestant rules, dates and deadlines.
This fonds includes correspondence, receipts and other records of Reverend Peter McLaren Duncan, Leonora Duncan, James Duncan, and Annie Duncan. Also included are sermon notes, assessment notices, insurance policies and the marriage register of Colborne Presbyterian Church from 1896 to 1912. The fonds also includes an autograph album of Leonora (Singleton) Duncan, Brighton, Canada West.
Duncan, Reverend Peter McLarenThis fonds consists of records relating to the Bateson family of Cavan Township in the County of Durham. A large portion of the records are debentures showing sale of land to William Bateson and other people. There are three wills; one for Isaac Bateson, one for Ellen Bateson (parents of William Bateson) and one for William Bateson. The fonds also includes some earlier, apparently unrelated records regarding other properties. This fonds is an excellent source of history on the Bateson family.
Bateson familyThis item is a journal of events kept by the Post Manager at Eastmain, Outfit 260, James Bay District of the Hudson's Bay Company. His instructions were to record weather conditions, temperatures, activities of Inuit and Native fur trade, animal and bird migration patterns, supply ship and passenger activity, mail arrivals and news of Revillon Freres at an adjoining post. E. Goad fire insurance plan of the town of Peterborough and the village of Ashburnham, 1882, revised 1889.

The correspondence and documents pertain to writers in Great Britain and the British Empire. The subject matter ranges from military campaigns between the British and the French, mutiny in the West Indies and India and the sugar and slave trade in the West Indies. Subjects of letters include: battles in India, trade routes in West Indies and Asia; wars with France, Spain, and Austria.

Collins, George Barlee, Thomas and Jane Fairbairn, R. Boucher, Katherine Dennistoun, G. Stevenson, H.C. Rogers. Clementi bought the property in 1874.
