This collection of photographs was received in the Archives via the Native Studies Department. It is unknown who collected the photographs from the various repositories. The photographs were collected from the Public Archives of Canada, the Public Archives of Manitoba, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Archives of Ontario, the Saskatchewan Archives, the American Museum of Natural History, and from an unidentified news agency in Kenora, Ontario.

This collection of photographs comes from the Library and Archives of Canada, Archives of Ontario, Saskatchewan Archives, Public Archives of Manitoba, Royal Ontario Museum and the American Museum of Natural History. Subjects include native peoples, immigrants, Riel Rebellion, surveys, and early explorers.
