Brighton TownshipThis fonds consists of ledgers and an order book dating from 1880 to 1910. The books relate to "Mrs. Welliam Denoon who was a butchor or dealer in all kinds of fresh and salt meats".

Item includes a collection of signatures, notes, and documents pasted into a copy of the "Annual Report on Normal, Model, Grammar and Common Schools...," 1857. Materials relate, for the most part, to the Bell and Canniff families of Thurlow Township, Hastings County. Other items of note include a document certifying parents' satisfaction with teacher Robert Laing, Big Island, 1817; a document relating to the building of a bridge across a creek in Thurlow Township, 1832; a notice regarding a meeting to elect officers for the formation of an agricultural society in Hastings County [Midland District Agricultural Society], 1830; and a declaration regarding Stephen Ferguson Bell who saw "a greate shooting of the stars... a continual shooting from the center of the Heavens in every direction," 1833.

Most of the political figures are nineteenth century public figures such as George Brown, General Simcoe, Lord Durham, Robert Baldwin, Sir John A. Macdonald, Louis Lafontaine, Guy Carleton, Egerton Ryerson and William Lyon Mackenzie.

Original printed wrappers with yapp edges, two-holed ribbon binding and staples, illustration mounted to front cover. Yapp edges chipped with short tears, as usual, large chip missing from head of spine, otherwise a very good, clean and complete copy of a rare item. "The aim in this book has been simply to describe briefly the totems, and the legends connected with them. All these poles may be seen in the usual tourist visit to Southeastern Alaska . No totem is treated in this work which has not been ceremonially erected." - from the Conclusion.
