United Counties of Peterborough and VictoriaThis collection consists of voters lists for various townships in Peterborough, Durham, Brant and Hastings counties such as Asphodel, North Monaghan, Otonabee, Harvey, Burleigh and Anstruther, Dummer, Hope, Brantford, Onondaga, the Town of Paris and Sidney.
This fonds is comprised of typescripts of newspaper articles from the Peterborough Weekly Despatch, the Peterborough Review and the Peterborough Examiner. The articles have been arranged chronologically under a number of subject headings by the donor.
This fonds consists of scattered issues of The Advocate (published by the Ontario Temperance Federation) from 1955 to 1971; newspaper clippings regarding temperance, the advent of liquor licensing by the Ontario Government and drinking laws in Ontario.
Ontario Temperance FederationThe collection contains material related to political movements and student and faculty activism in the late 1960s and 1970s. In particular, it includes records documenting the 1967 dismissal of five Simon Fraser University teacher's assistants and the resignation of Professor T.B. Bottomor as the Dean of Arts. In addition, it includes C.A.U.T.’s censure of Simon Fraser University's in 1968, 1971 and 1974. Records relating to these matters at SFU include newsprint articles, posters, official documents and statements.
The collection also includes records documenting The Old Mole, a student Marxist organization at the University of Toronto in the 1970s. Records include the group's mission statements, newsletters, reports, meeting minutes and proposals.
Lastly, the collection includes documentation of the Waffle (Movement for an Independent Socialist Canada), a far-left subgroup of the New Democratic Party of Canada. The documents are primarily from 1970-1972. Records include manifestos, political strategies, reports and proposals, meeting agendas and minutes, letters to waffle members, news clippings and public education material.
This addition to the fonds consists of records from the Canadian Forum magazine primarily from the years of 1979 to 1986, although some of the material dates back to 1973. Included are manuscripts from most issues between 1979 and 1986, as well as correspondence with the editors.
Canadian ForumThis manuscript is a 1984 revised typescript, with original proofs, of Professor Margaret Doxey's publication, "The Contemporary World". Included are original maps used in the publication.
Doxey, MargaretThis fonds consists of the personal and collected papers of the Honourable Leslie M. Frost, former Premier of Ontario. It contains correspondence; letter books from World War I through his legal and political career to post-retirement phase of public and private directorships; scrapbooks of Leslie Frost and his wife Gertrude; and historical files on various subjects, including the Frost family, the Carew family, various political figures, and Victoria, Peterborough and Haliburton Counties. The fonds is especially valuable for the study of Conservatism and it includes collected campaign material from 1891 to 1971, material on federal and provincial elections, and original and copied historical material on many individuals and events. Also included in the fonds are photographs, miscellaneous graphic materials, and audio visual materials.
