Octavo. (26 cm x 16.3 cm). Peach coloured printed paper wraps, containing 3 black & white plates, printed one-side, loosely inserted. Covers a little soiled and chipped, else near fine.

This item is a Charles E. Goad fire insurance plan of the village of Victoria Road, Ontario as at August 1898. It includes a key plan (scale 500':01") and a key to symbols.

Fonds consists of four funeral notices. The first is of Eliza Ann Raper, wife of William Raper, who died in Millbrook, Ontario, 5 September 1890; the second, of Ann Jane Killenbeck, wife of Wm. H. Russell, who died in Millbrook, 4 August 1892; the third, of Mary Elizabeth Killingbeck, wife of Wm. Raper, who died in Township of Cavan, 18 August 1895; and the fourth, of Maria Richardson, wife of John Richardson, who died in Toronto, 28 November 1898, funeral at the residence of her brother, Wm. Raper, Millbrook.

This item is a letter book related to carpentry, contracting and building activities in the Colborne, Ontario, area. It contains some interesting material on house construction in terms of methods and materials. It also contains some information on Colborne area churches. The letter book has a partial index to the correspondence of William Ives.

Collection consists of three personal notes written by Catharine Parr Traill to her grand-niece, Agnes Le Fenore. One is a two part card with the cover illustrated with cutout images of a dog and a butterfly along with a wisp of moss glued to the surface. The second part of the card is a warm salutation to Agnes and her family. The date is 24 December 1897. The second item, dated 12 May, is a note of thanks to Agnes for obtaining a cape [and cap?] for her, and also refers to fatigue and the problem of swelling feet. The third item is a letter written 1 April 1899 to "G Niece A F" [Agnes] sending belated sympathy for two in hospital and describing in some detail Traill's own plight, and the care offered by Kate and Katie.

Original Illustrated Wrappers. (17.7 cm x 12.7 cm), pp. 65, 66-68 adverts + frontispiece and 15 inserted half-tone photo plates. Cream, illustrated paper wraps, adverts to rear cover, inside rear cover and inside front cover, stapled binding. Covers lightly soiled, one small closed tear to bottom edge of front cover, spine chipped with 2.5 cm piece missing from tail, otherwise a very good plus copy of a fishing rarity. "To those whom Fortune has presented, from her store of gifts, the particular one most dear to lovers of the rod and gun, the desire to seek the haunts of fish and game, I dedicate this work. He who casts the fly, or he who prefers the gun, can find equally satisfying sport in the territory described." - from dedication. [2287]

This fonds consists of legal documents which are mostly protests against Alexander McIntosh for promissory notes that were not honoured. The protesters are local Peterborough businesses and banks. There are also by-laws and other documents of a legal nature from North Monaghan township including some information on School Sections Nos. 1-4 and a class list for School Section No. 3.

Top edge trimmed, others deckled. Chipping to spine ends and fore-edge, 4 cm part at tail of front cover and spine edge, front cover and deckled edges dust soiled, else very good copy, interior bright and clean. The fonds consists of John Dobbin's treasurer's accounts from 1865 and 1867; printing schedules and fees, 1878; and statement of accounts, 1899. All of these items pertain to North Monaghan Township.

This fonds consists of two watercolours with one identified as Hastings, Ontario, and and the other identified as Forest City. Also included in the fonds are two pencil sketches and a photograph of another sketch. One sketch of two farms and a river with a steamboat on it, but otherwise unidentified. The other sketch is of the Anderson house, the Ashfield house, Mr. Harry Fowld's house and the Wanamaker's house, all in Hastings, Ontario. The photographic reproduction is of a sketch entitled Hastings on the Trent, Ontario. The watercolours and sketches were created by Rev. Michael A. Farrar.

Covers dust soiled, tanning to margins of text block, with deeper tanning around margins where the folding maps are placed. Otherwise a very good, tight copy a scarce item. "These pages, while applicable in great measure to the whole of the Free Grant Territory, are intended to have special reference to that part of the Algoma District between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, to the part of Nipissing District bordering on the Canadian Pacific Railway, to the Temiscaming Settlement, and to the Rainy River District, including the Thunder Bay District and the Wabigoon Settlement on the C.P.R. (in connection with the Government Pioneer Farm); all of which Districts are now easily accessible by railway or steamboat." [2229]

Hon. Duncan Graham was an Independent Liberal Member of Parliament for Ontario North from 1897 to 1900. His papers contain a form letter from the Canadian Pacific Railway dated April 3, 1900; a letter dated October 10 from S.A. Cunningham threatening to withdraw his support for Graham in the next election and a cancelled cheque from Graham and Dougall McQuaig to E.H. Henry dated October 10, 1899.
