The fonds consists of mimeograph and typescript copies of minutes, an outline of history and purposes of the Foundation, and two papers on the Serpent Mounds, at Rice Lake, one of which is by William Richard Adams of Bloomington, Indiana.

This fonds consists of records of Dr. James Robbins Kidd pertaining to the founding and operation of the Indian-Eskimo Association of Canada (later to become the Canadian Association in Support of Native Peoples). It includes correspondence, notes, memoranda, news clippings, minutes, transcripts of speeches, conference reports, and assorted government publications.

This addition to the fonds consists of research notes, bibliographic information and manuscript drafts created by Professor Kidd in the course of his work on Paul Kane.

This fonds consists of the administrative and academic records created during Professor Kenneth Kidd's career at Trent University. The fonds has been arranged into three distinct series: administrative, academic, and materials related to the development of the native studies program at Trent University. It includes: committee minutes; correspondence, especially relating to the Departments of Anthropology and Native Studies; and manuscripts of works on glass beads, which were later published. There are also brochures, programs and papers from learned societies.

These manuscripts were written by Dr. Barclay McKone, M.D., and are in typescript format. The first manuscript with the title "Moose Factory Indian Hospital" describes, in addition to a brief historical and geographical background of Moose Factory and its service area, salient treatments used to fight tuberculosis, and the frequent successes. The record comes alive with frequent records of specific cases. A review of cases indicated different characteristics of the disease and its treatment between "Indian" and Inuit patients. This report also refers to the treatment of other diseases and cases handled by the hospital between 1951 and 1955. The second manuscript with the title "Eastern Arctic Medical and X-Ray Survey 1955" describes in more complete diary-like detail the considerable amount of work done by group #2 of a 3 group expedition in their attempt to grapple with all the medical problems of the eastern Arctic. Again a primary concern is to identify and arrange to treat patients with tuberculosis. The time frame is June to September 1955.

Materials added in 2015:

Two DVDs of film footage taken by Dr. Barclay McKone between 1951 and 1955 while he was working as a physician in the James Bay region. Also included are typed notes by Dr. McKone which provide information about the content of the films. The film footage was originally in VHS format and was copied to DVD prior to being donated by Dr. Barclay's great niece Christine Fischer Guy. Ms. Guy received the original VHS tapes from Dr. McKone to help in the research of her novel, The Umbrella Mender, which was published in 2014 and is set in Moose Factory. The DVDs and notes were donated from the estate of Dr. Barclay McKone in 2015 via Christine Fischer Guy. Restriction: Permission to publish from this material is required from Christine Fischer Guy.

Fonds consists of documents from Professor Jennifer Brown’s experience participating in an archaeological dig at the Serpent Mounds and her relationship to Professor Kenneth and Martha Kidd.

This fonds consists of minutes, addresses, papers, annual reports, correspondence, maps and publications of the Indian-Eskimo Association of Canada in the early days of its work between 1957 and 1970.

This collection consists of pamphlets, occasional papers, and government publications relating to Indigenous peoples (mostly in Canada) and their cultures, the territorial north, archaeology, education, and northern communities.

These documents consist of two stapled mimeographed books. The first, dated March 1946 and entitled "The Union of Saskatchewan Indians: The Record of the Establishment of Indian Unity in Saskatchewan" records the minutes of meetings held in Regina, Duck Lake and Saskatoon, and provides names of the Constitution Committee. It also contains reprints of Treaties No.3 and 4. The second book, dated July 1946 and entitled "The Treaties Between Her Majesty, Queen Victoria and The Indians of British North America" contains reprints of Treaties No. 3,4,5,6,7, and 8.

This fonds consists of correspondence, copies of articles, and manuscripts relating to the book "Here Was Vinland" (Sault Ste. Marie, 1939). It also includes family papers and miscellanea. The correspondence includes letters from C.E. Brown, L. Burpee, Dr. T.P. Christennen, Dr. K. Christofferson, J.E. Dodd, A.J. Erikson, E. Greenaway, Judge A. McComber, the Smithsonian Institute, V. Stefannson, and others.

This fonds consists of publications, photographs, news clippings, bulletins and reports pertaining to Reverend Elgie E.M. Joblin's interest in Indigenous affairs and in particular, the education of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Included in the fonds are references to the Canadian Association in Support of Native Peoples, the Indian-Eskimo Association, copies of Indian News and a Cree hymn book. Also included in the fonds are 14 scrapbooks of clippings on native issues.

This addition to the fonds consists of correspondence, research notes, newspaper clippings, art catalogues, manuscripts relating to Paul Kane; anthropological research, Irish literary personalities, native art, culture and artifacts, cutlery and trade beads. Also included are personal records of Professor Kidd and his career at the Royal Ontario Museum and Trent University . Item is a 180-page typescript of an Eskimo-French dictionary written by Arthur Thibert in 1932. An accompanying note written by Mary M. Parsons reads as follows: "While stationed at Eskimo Point N.W.T. where my husband was the O/C the R.C.M.P. detachment, I was requested by the priests of the Catholic mission to type a copy of this dictionary. I would believe this book to be one of the copies I made at that time. Arthur Thibert whose name the manuscript bears, was a priest of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and was, in fact, the priest who performed our marriage so I got to know him well. My part was done during the winter of 1941-42. [signed] Mary M. Parsons."

This addition to the fonds consists of correspondence (mostly between 1960 and 1990), photocopies of articles by various authors, manuscripts of anthropological subjects by Professor Kidd and some of his personal papers.

This fonds consists of correspondence, documents, and manuscripts. Included are personal letters, articles, essays, journals and daily planning books, research notes, drafts of books and plays in manuscript form (including an unpublished first novel), royalty statements, photographs and documentation on the novelizations of the films "Corvette Summer," "Dragonslayer," "Batteries Not Included," and "Willow". Also included are materials regarding the film, "Places Out of Time."

This fonds consists of three notebooks of typewritten notes entitled "Reference Notes on the Cree", and one photograph of P.G. Downes with Richard Finnie. The notebooks contain bibliographic sources, alphabetically arranged, their contents briefly analyzed and evaluated in terms of their usefulness to the study of various facets of Cree society. The notebooks also contain a number of Prentice G. Downes' writings.

This item is a journal of events kept by the Post Manager at Eastmain, Outfit 260, James Bay District of the Hudson's Bay Company. His instructions were to record weather conditions, temperatures, activities of Inuit and Native fur trade, animal and bird migration patterns, supply ship and passenger activity, mail arrivals and news of Revillon Freres at an adjoining post. This fonds consists of miscellaneous personal documents relating to Gilbert Monture, including his family tree and a copy of his birth certificate. Also included are various speeches and articles by Monture, correspondence ranging from 1912-1983, newspaper clippings, miscellaneous photographs, materials relating to Pauline Johnson, correspondence and minutes relating to the Canadian Correction Association project "Indians and the Law", and documents regarding an exhibit at the Indian Hall of Fame, Canadian National Exhibition.

This addition to the fonds consists of records relating to the career of Reverend Elgie Joblin such as correspondence, church bulletins, yearbooks, newspaper clippings and photographs. The records deal with various charges throughout Canada and most of the records concern his career administering residential schools, native education and religion.

The fonds consists of photocopies and typescripts of correspondence and journals of Reverend Robert Brooking and his wife Elizabeth relating to his service as a missionary in Africa, in Canada West and in the Hudson's Bay Territory. Also included are reports of the Wesleyan Missionary Society, 1851-1857. Some of the items relate to the Hiawatha and Rama Reserves, and Norway House. The original records date from 1839 to 1879. Also included is a modern print of a photograph of Rev Robert Brooking [ca. 1890] and 3 photographs of Elizabeth's tombstone at Chief Island, Lake Couchiching, Rama Reserve, near Orillia.
