    Administrative history

    The National and Provincial Parks Association of Canada (NPPAC) was founded in 1963 and is dedicated to preserving Canada's natural heritage. It is an educational non-profit organization and provides the public with information regarding the status of Canada's parks. It is specifically involved with park and wildland protection. In 1986, NPPAC underwent a name change and became the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS).

    Custodial history

    This fonds was in the custody of Professor John Marsh before it was donated to Trent University Archives on April 28, 1999.

    Scope and content

    This fonds consists of correspondence, reports, newspaper clippings and other material relating to several national parks in Canada. Also included is correspondence and reports relating to Parks Canada and Environment Canada, and NPPAC/CPAW's position papers, proposals, and newsletters. This fonds also contains miscellaneous brochures and pamphlets relating to parks.
