Administrative history
The Society of Camp Directors was founded May 21, 1969, after a long gestation period, from about 1957, when the subject was first broached in the Ontario Camping Association. Members of the OCA who were camp directors were instrumental in the formation of the new society.
Custodial history
The fonds was created by and in the custody of the Society of Camp Directors until it was transferred to Trent University Archives.
Scope and content
This addition to the fonds consists of minutes, by-laws, correspondence, financial records, and membership lists of the Society of Camp Directors. Also included is a questionnaire on canoe trip practices and a proposal for a new project titled "Why Children go to Camp."
