Baulch and Son, Port Hope, 1889-1904 and 1916-1937. The loose items include agreements between Joseph H. Baulch and various others to lease property from Baulch; tax notices and receipts; and a letter from Will Baulch. Also included is one photograph (tintype) of unidentified male.

Six pictures deal with the Mount Julian/Stoney Lake area, while the other two are pictures of sites at the Village of Keene in Otonabee Township. The last is a picture of a pioneer cabin, in Burleigh Township.

T.H. Stinson family fonds

Fonds consists of records documenting the Stinson family, primarily the legal and political career of T.H. Stinson. Family records include Christmas cards, wedding invitations, and family portraits, Mrs. Stinson's correspondence, and travel records (postcards, booklets, photographs) documenting the 1913 Christian North American Tour, in which Mr. and Mrs. Stinson participated. Records documenting T.H. Stinson's legal and political career include law school notebooks (1904-1910), correspondence and a scrapbook regarding the 1921 election, campaign files and notes from the 1930 and 1935 federal elections and Leslie Frost's 1934 provincial campaign, material from the Conservative Party Caucus Study club, newspaper clippings regarding the depression and the Bennett government, memoranda, correspondence regarding the riding organization (1933-1935); and House of Commons materials. There are postcards which depict scenes of Canada and the United States, from approximately 1920. Included, also, are several local maps, election posters (1927), and voter tally boards.

This fonds consists of two books of poetry by Frederick Montague de la Fosse, "Verses Grave and Gay" and "A Dream and An Allegory" which are signed by the author and given to Helen Anderson from him. Also included in the fonds are some poems, all signed by de la Fosse and letters to Helen Anderson from de la Fosse as well as two photographs of de la Fosse; one as a young man (signed on the back) and one of him as an older man.

Collection consists of correspondence, 1882-1899, and several envelopes dating 1870s to 1890s, most of which are addressed to Thomas Choate of Warsaw, and Mrs. John Moore [Cettie Choate, daughter of Thomas]; souvenir brochure of pictures of Peterborough, Ontario; Maccabees brochures; approximately 125 stereographs depicting scenery, architecture, and people in the U.S.A., Europe, and Canada; two photographs of the employees of Western Clock Company Limited of Peterborough, Ontario, 1938 and 1944; a temperance meeting poster for Warsaw, Ontario, 1858; and an electoral district of East Durham proclamation broadside, 1924. Also included is the Choate Family Bible donated and added to the collection in 2002. The bible contains genealogical information on the Choate family.

This addition to the fonds includes World War I correspondence, including approximately eight letters written by Helen, Donald and Eric Fowlds from France and the Dardanelles during World War 1. There are excellent descriptions of preparations for Christmas dinner at the military hospital where Helen was stationed and also letters home from Helen after Donald was killed in action.

The papers also contain typescripts of letters written by early members of the Fowlds family from Asphodel Township in 1841. There is a miscellaneous packet of photograph negatives and assorted clippings. Also included are "water level" notebooks (Hastings).

This fonds consists of one shipboard dispatch relating to the meeting between Hitler and Mussolini on August 1939; a telegram from 29 April 1945 suing for peace; a telegram from 7 May 1945 regarding the signing of an unconditional surrender and two telegrams from 1946 concerning atomic bomb use from the Prime Minister of Canada, MacKenzie King.

These documents consist of two stapled mimeographed books. The first, dated March 1946 and entitled "The Union of Saskatchewan Indians: The Record of the Establishment of Indian Unity in Saskatchewan" records the minutes of meetings held in Regina, Duck Lake and Saskatoon, and provides names of the Constitution Committee. It also contains reprints of Treaties No.3 and 4. The second book, dated July 1946 and entitled "The Treaties Between Her Majesty, Queen Victoria and The Indians of British North America" contains reprints of Treaties No. 3,4,5,6,7, and 8.

There is excellent correspondence relating to the lives of Annie and Daisy Davidson which describes the lives of young women at the end of the nineteenth century struggling to educate themselves and to find appropriate employment.

This fonds consists of three issues of the University of Manitoba publication VOX which contain stories, poetry, editorials, reports and a graduate section which has photographs of the graduates for the year of publication. In all issues there are short stories and poetry written by Margaret Laurence, under her maiden name of Jean Margaret (Peggy) Wemyss. There is also a photograph of her in one of the issues.

The fonds consists of the correspondence and manuscripts of the Peterborough author and teacher, Francis J.A. Morris, primarily relating to his interests in botany, entomology, and classical and modern literature. The papers include both prose and poetry selections, some of which are unpublished. Morris wrote for diverse journals, among them the Canadian Forum, and the Canadian Entomologist. Also among the papers are published copies of some of his works, and copies of the works of other authors, mainly in the field of natural science and botany or entomology. There are photographs included, some of which are reproduced here.
