        History

        Professor Michael Peterman was born in 1942 and taught in the English department at Trent University from 1972 to 2008. During this period, he served as Chair of the English Department, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Principal of Traill College, and editor of the Journal of Canadian Studies. He is author and editor/co-editor of several articles and books focused on Canadian and American literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. Professor Peterman received Trent University's Distinguished Research Award in 2000 and was elected a Fellow of The Royal Society of Canada in 2006.
