Collection consists of correspondence, research material, and publications relating to Burke's research on A.J.M. Smith’s professional career and personal life, gathered during her doctoral studies at the University of Ottawa (1975-1978). The correspondence includes letters with Smith’s contemporaries and Burke’s nomination of Smith for an honorary degree at the University of Calgary. Photocopied research material includes course listings from Michigan State between 1931 and 1945 (when Smith worked there) and histories of the university. Also includes an audio cassette of 1965 WUOM Radio broadcast "A Tribute to Roethke," featuring E.G. Burrows (host), Allan Seeger; Donald Hall; A.J.M. Smith; Nelson Bently.

This fonds consists of oral history tapes made by George Cobb. Topics covered on the tapes include the Trent Canal, lumbering, early medicine and dentistry in Peterborough County, Indigenous history and culture, mills and so forth. This collection consists of 278 slides taken by Rosemary McConkey during her work as a nutritionist in Malaya (1962) and in Nigeria (1965). McConkey was part of a team of medical personnel and scientists from the University of Ohio who undertook surveys of nutritional needs in these two areas. McConkey has supplied a detailed listing of the slides (below) and has also included a 45 r.p.m. recording of the national anthem of Malaya "Negara Ku,", six books relating to the two areas and a map of Malaya. File consists of two data papers from the Southeast Asia Program, Department of Asian Studies, Cornell University: The first is "Maternity and its Rituals in Bang Chan" by Jane Richardson Hanks (1963). Excerpt, from page 3: "The purpose of this study is to set down the ethnographic data concerning childbirth in Bang Chan, following out the economic, social, religious, and cosmological aspects as needed to clarify the behavior and the psychological attitudes noted."

The second report is "Singapore and Malaysia" by Milton E. Osborne (1964). Excerpt, p.v: "...the People's Action Party's decision to contest the Malayan elections in April 1964 appears to have been an important turning point in Malaysian politics... This survey seeks to describe and analyze the events between the assumption of power by the People's Action Party in Singapore in 1959 and that party's decision to contest the Malayan elections in 1964."

Collection consists of an inventory of land locations for early settlers and inhabitants of Ops Township from the initial survey of the township in 1825 to 1872. It includes census information and assessments of households, various voter's lists, many Ops Township documents and one map for the 1839 Assessment Roll. The collection also includes a variety of cookbooks, recipes, food preparation manuals for specific cooking devices, and research notes.

This fonds consists of various original and copied records of the business activities of Thomas Hay, and related family data, such as birth-death records, correspondence, drawings (technical and sketches) and photographs. A small genealogical table compiled by the archivist is enclosed.

The fonds consists of the diaries of Harriet Pengelley (1835-1836), Robert Pengelley (1835), and A.E. Marguerite (Rita) Pengelley (1940-1941); correspondence; sketchbooks (1829-1830); drawings; and photographs. In 1994, an addition was made to the fonds which included a photocopy of a diary of Robert Pengelley (1837-1840) and textual records regarding the Pengelley family. In 2018, an addition of Pengelley family genealogical information was received. Some of the diaries have typewritten transcripts attached.

This fonds consists of records of Laura Belle Hodgins who was Chair of the Kitchener, Ontario, Branch of the Women's Voluntary Services from 1942 to 1946; papers and legal documents of Stanley and Laura Belle Hodgins who bought Camp Wanapitei (a wilderness canoe tripping camp) in the mid-1950s; and correspondence, legal records, financial records, and camper, staff and program records of Camp Wanapitei under the directorship of Bruce Hodgins from 1960 to 1985.

Fonds consists of records documenting Robert Lightbody's experiences with Trent University, as a student, lawyer, fundraiser, and active alumnus. Records include correspondence, meeting minutes, photographs, newspaper clippings, planning records, student records, pamphlets and other ephemera, course syllabi, and student governance records. Fonds also includes a speech and pamphlets from a talk given by Margaret Lightbody for the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW).

Fonds consists of Harley Cummings' research material for Early Days in Haliburton, published in 1963. Included are original wage lists, letters, receipts, accounting records, and agreements of the Ottawa logging company, Bronsons and Weston, with several documents relating to their York Branch operation. Documents relating to business transactions with the Boyd lumbering company of Bobcaygeon, and with individuals along the Peterson Road and Bobcaygeon Road who provided supplies and lodging for the workers comprise a part of the holdings. Mentioned are the Egan Farm in Dungannon Township, Hastings County, and the Bruton Farm on the Peterson Road in Haliburton County. There are references, too, to the operation of cadges between locations (commercial carriers which transported supplies by horses and sleigh/buggy). Also included are copy maps; photographs; notes; handwritten transcriptions of diaries of Alexander Niven and of Mrs. C.R. Stewart; and photographs of Lillian de Grassi Boyd, the Blomfield [Blumfield] family of Lakefield, and the Strickland homestead in Lakefield.

Fonds consists of call-up notification postcards (1874-1880) sent by Lieut.-Col. Alex. McKenzie of Barrie, Ontario, to Lieut. John Sutherland of Bond Head, Ontario regarding the Battalion being raised at Barrie for the Northwest Rebellion. Also included are genealogical records related to the Cummings and MacCallum families, a photocopy of a book written by Harley Cummings entitled Cummings-MacCallum: A Tale of Two Families; notes and other materials related to the teaching career of Cummings; three photographs: Hon. Thos. Mackay's Mills, Distillery etc. and part of New Edinburgh, Rideau Falls, New Edinburgh, from Railway Bridge, and an unidentified photo similar to the previous two; and three maps: 1. Ontario Department of Highways Road Map of the Provisional County of Haliburton, 1952 (original); 2. Plan of Part of York River and its Southern Tributaries, Egan's River, Hudson's Creek & Allen's Creek together with the Head Waters of the E. & W. Branches of Crow River & Buckhorn Branch of Ottanabe [Otonabee] River, Tributaries to the St. Lawrence, surveyed by John A. Snow, Hull, 1855 (in four sheets, copied from microfilm); 3. Plan of Part of York River, commencing at the Floodwood Jam, surveyed by John A. Snow, Hull, 1854 (in three sheets, copied from microfilm).

This collection consists of transcripts of minutes of the Board of Directors' of the Canadian Land and Emigration Company, 1868-1885, and annual reports of Bronson and Weston, lumber merchants, 1876-1884, with whom the Company did business. Also included are excerpts from the diaries of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Stewart, agent for the company in Haliburton, and their son Charles E. Stewart, 1865-66 and 1870.

Fonds consists of documents from Professor Jennifer Brown’s experience participating in an archaeological dig at the Serpent Mounds and her relationship to Professor Kenneth and Martha Kidd.

This item is an original day book from the Benson Mills (also called Creek Mills and Peterboro Mills) which describes work done, for whom work was done, and value of work done. Cut pages at the front of the book indicate it was possibly repurposed for this use, and was possibly initially used during the rebellion. A loose page tucked in the back includes a list of "accoutrements received by Captn Palmer's No. 1 Company" in 1839.

The microfiches contain the guide to the holdings of the Archives of Ontario for the Jarvis-Powell Papers, the Strachan Papers, the Sir Alexander Campbell Papers and the Ontario Commissions and Committees.

This collection consists of an eclectic assortment of documents and papers pertaining to many parts of Canada including 3 documents prepared by Powadiuk for the government, 2 of which concern Indigenous peoples; 10 prints of 19th century personalities; 1905 map of the Niagara River; papers re Indian-Eskimo Association; deeds, mortgages and trust documents from Huron and Bruce Counties; Niagara peninsula documents including Hugh Alexander's account book; Lord Selkirk letter dated 1837; Charles G.D. Roberts letter dated 1892; notes on the inception of "Evangeline." A major element in the collection relates to Mr. James Ross of East Hawkesbury, stone mason and merchant and his family. The Ross quarry appears to have supplied stone for the Carillon lock and for Fort Henry. The family was involved in the East Hawkesbury school for 2 decades.

The fonds consists of a handwritten copy of the Engineer's (Mr. Tom S. Rubidge) report on the prospects for the development of the Trent Canal as an industrial navigation system linking Lakes Huron (through Georgian Bay) and Ontario. The fonds also includes comments on the state of repair of the existing locks, amount of work needed and estimated costs.

Collection consists of 28 volumes of land registry books, including abstract indexes to deeds and instruments of deed, mortgage and acquittal. Books relate to the East Riding of Newcastle District: Durham County (now Durham County) and include the townships of Manvers, Darlington, Hope, Clarke, Cartwright and Cavan and the Town of Port Hope. Books contain instruments (memorials) of all land transactions including mortgages).
