This item is a corrected carbon text of Peterborough's Architectural Heritage edited by Martha Kidd and published in 1978.

Peterborough's Architectural Heritage was written by Martha Ann Kidd and published by the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee in 1978. The Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was established through a by-law made by the City of Peterborough after the Ontario Heritage Act of 1974 was passed by the Province of Ontario. Committee members consisted of Victor Barry, Edgar J. Boland, Teresa Bradburn, Eric V. Jackson, Martha A. Kidd, J.J. Overvliet, Eldon P. Ray, Jennie Spurway, Margaret Fleming and Betty Ross. The committee developed a number of guidelines for its activities and set out to compile a list of pre-1890 structures within the boundaries set by the Otonabee River, Parkhill Road, Park Street and Townsend Street. The list consists of photographs of the buildings and text containing information about the buildings architectural style and information about most of the homeowners. The list was compiled in order to aid Peterborough City Council in determining whether a permit for drastic exterior alteration or demolition should be issued for any of the properties. This fonds consists of correspondence, research material, manuscripts and publications pertaining to the scholarly works of Professor Richard Dellamora. The materials relate largely to his publications, which include "Masculine Desire" (1990), "Apocalyptic Overtures" (1994), "Postmodern Apocalypse" (1995), "The Work of Opera" (1996), and "Victorian Sexual Dissidence" (1999), as well as several journal articles. Research notes encompass such nineteenth-century writers as Walter Pater, Oscar Wilde, John Ruskin and Algernon Swinburne.

Professor Dellamora's witings in this fonds include the book "Friendship's Bonds: Democracy and the Novel in Victorian England" published in 2004, and an essay on Luce Irigaray published in 2000.

Fonds consists of papers, articles, and manuscripts of books written by Robert Bowley. Included is research material, photographs, slides, and negatives relating to the postal history of Smith Township, Peterborough, and the surrounding area. Included also are letters dated 1823-1878 of the Baptie family who were situated in Ida, Ontario, and extensive research material related to Captain Charles Rubidge, Sir Sandford Fleming, the Pengelley/Roche families, S.J. Carver, and local historic sites. This fonds is a tremendous resource for information related to Peterborough and area in general.

This fonds consists of research materials collected by Professor Ross Irwin for his book on Mariposa Township, Victoria County. Material added August 1992 includes a copy of Mariposa: The Banner Township and a series of 8 scrapbooks created by Mrs. Alex McIntyre of Oakwood, Ontario and donated via Professor Irwin. Additions of 1994 include slides of Lindsay, Ontario and other scenes in Victoria County taken in approximately the 1960s. Additions of 2002 include 2 notebooks of Robert Irwin, Cambray. Additions of 2010 include studio portraits of ancestral family members. Additions of 2012 include items related to the history of the Wakelin family and a scribbler with house-building notes.

Also included are letters of congratulations to Roy MacGregor upon his receiving journalism and book awards; reviews of books by MacGregor; and personal correspondence regarding his books.

This fonds consists of correspondence, draft manuscripts, interview tapes and research notes pertaining to biographies of Foster Hewitt and Conn Smythe, etc.; notes and records resulting from Mr. Young's participation in the Royal Commission on Violence in the Communications Industry; and correspondence between Young and fellow media personalities including Robertson Davies, Peter Trueman, John Bassett and Pierre Berton. One of the largest series of records relates to the biography of his son, Neil Young.

This addition to the fonds consists of correspondence, interview tapes and drafts of manuscripts written by Scott Young such as Powerplay: The Memoirs of Hockey Czar Alan Eagleson and The Boys of Saturday Night. The fonds also includes interview tapes of Don Cherry, Ron Harrison, Bill Hewitt, and other hockey coaches, players and team owners. There is also an autographed copy of War on Ice; personal correspondence and greeting cards. We have copied out Scott's famous spaghetti sauce recipe (see note below).

This fonds consists of correspondence, accounts, notes, clippings and articles relating to the conference held at Trent University on January 24 and 25, 1975. There are also 3 copies of Journal of Canadian Studies edition with papers from the conference.

This accession consists of four books. The first book, The Holy Bible, is a pulpit bible printed by John Baskerville [c.1750], and includes the dedication to King James 1 and the Apocrypha. Handwritten family records, from Thomas A. Stewart's father down through several generations, appear on the inside of the front cover and at the beginning of the New Testament. Included with the bible is a description and history of the book, as provided by Reverend John Shearman. The second book is a "Commonplace" book. The notebook inscribed "Frances Browne, 1811", reflects Frances Stewart's taste in verse and sayings and is handwritten except for a few clippings inter-leaved. A photocopy of the "Commonplace" book is also included.

Two additional books were added in 2004. The first of these is Frances Browne's music book, 1811, and consists of sheet music bound together inside a leather cover; the inscription on the cover reads "Miss F. Browne, 1811." The second of these is Church of England, Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments..., [170-]; the title page is missing.

This fonds consists of 6 volumes of "Sunset of Bon Echo" bound into one copy, as well as one additional copy unbound, which were published by Flora Macdonald Denison in honour of Walt Whitman.

Collection consists of 12 leather-bound volumes of the plays of William Shakespeare, with "Thos. A. Stewart" bookplates glued on the inside cover of each volume. The volumes are numbered I through XII. Volume XII includes the following bibliographic information: "The Plays of William Shakespeare, from the correct edition of Isaac Reed, Esq., London, Printed for Vernor, Hood and Sharpe, Poultry; and Taylor and Hessey, Fleet Street. 1809." On the final page of each volume, except for Volumes I and II, the following additional information appears: "Stereotyped and printed by A. Wilson, Duke Street, Lincoln's-Inn Fields, London." On the final page of Vol. I, the following information appears: "Stereotyped by Andrew Wilson." Vol. I has the following additional names hand-written on the bookplate: "George A. Stewart", "Louis B. Stewart", and "[B] [ ] Stewart". Volumes III, VI, and VIII have "George A. Stewart" added to the bookplate. Handwritten on the bookplate for Vol. IV is "Thos. A. Stewart"; this may be Stewart's signature.
